Chad B. Infante is an artist, writer, and scholar from Jamaica, working and crafting in Maryland USA. He is also the founder of Obsidian Clayworks. Chad’s ceramic work draws on African, Native American, and global Indigenous traditions of pottery making.

He is particularly drawn to the African American and African tradition of the face jug, global fertility effigies, and Moche erotic pottery. Taught by J.J McCracken, he began his ceramic journey in 2019.

Chad earned his doctorate in English from Northwestern University in 2018 and researches Black and Indigenous U.S. and Caribbean literatures, gender, sexuality, critical theory and political philosophy.
